| FAQs | Why Choose Botox for Men, or Brotox? Botox is an incredibly versatile product, and this minimally invasive treatment can help any man tackle stubborn fine lines and wrinkles across multiple areas of the face, including the forehead, around the eyes, and between the eyebrows. Botox can even be used to reduce banding on the neck and chin dimpling, as well as contour your jaw. Botox isn’t discriminatory and is actually very safe for use on all skin tones and types, including darker tones. If you have concerns, however, then it’s ideal to work with an aesthetic injector that’s experienced with your particular skin tone or type. Botox is a surprisingly easy, well-tolerated procedure. Many patients don’t even require an anesthetic. If you’re concerned about comfort, your injector can apply a topical anesthetic for a painless experience. Botox itself can also be mixed with lidocaine to numb your skin during the injection process. Botox takes effect pretty quickly, with improvement being seen as early as three to four days. It can take up to two weeks to see the full effects of your Botox treatment, so it’s important to be patient. How Long Do Botox for Men Results Last? Botox is a temporary solution to the unwanted effects of aging. Most Botox users see their results last three to four months on average, though this varies depending on your metabolic rate, how well you care for your skin, and other factors. First-time Botox users may notice their results diminish faster. This is completely normal. If you remain consistent with Botox but don’t overdo it, it can last up to six months though that is not the norm. Only one Botox treatment spaced three to four months apart is needed to get those popular wrinkle-reducing effects. Botox shouldn’t be injected too often because your body can build antibodies against it, causing your body to break down the toxin much faster than normal and disrupting the efficacy. How Long Does Treatment Take? Treatment doesn’t take very long. The majority of Botox treatments for men are completed in an hour or less and injections are often referred to as a lunch break treatment. The process is fairly quick and typically involves only a handful of injections. The longest part is waiting for your topical anesthetic to work if you choose to incorporate one into your treatment. Your injector will watch over you for 10 to 15 minutes immediately after your appointment to ensure you don’t have any adverse effects. Downtime isn’t an issue with Botox, as it doesn’t require any. Aftercare is minimal as well. You’ll be advised to not lay down or bend over for at least four hours following treatment, keep pressure off of the injection site, and hold off on exercising for 24 to 48 hours. Your injector may have other instructions for you, so be sure to follow them carefully for optimal results. Side effects of Botox are very mild, the most common of which are swelling, bruising, redness, and tenderness at the injection site. Headaches and tiredness are not uncommon either. All of these typically resolve on their own relatively quickly. Complications are rare, but be sure to discuss them with your injector. Am I a Good Candidate for Botox for Men? Botox is recommended for healthy men over the age of 18 with mild to severe fine lines and dynamic wrinkles including crow’s feet and frown lines. Realistic but positive goals and expectations are a must for any cosmetic treatment. Botox should not be combined with the active and frequent use of certain medications, including blood thinners, certain antibiotics, and medications used to treat myasthenia gravis, a neuromuscular disease. Speaking of, Botox is not recommended for men with neuromuscular disorders, as it can worsen symptoms and lead to health complications. Botox has a high success rate as well as a high satisfaction rate. Still, consult with your injector to determine whether Botox is right for you based on your aesthetic goals, current medications, health history, and other determining factors. This minimally invasive treatment prevents the release of a chemical called acetylcholine to temporarily lower muscle activity, stopping the muscle contractions that cause wrinkles to form in the first place. This paralyzing effect is an incredibly beneficial treatment for wrinkles and even prevents new ones from occurring.
